Biography
Since its establishment in 2016, the Oman Urology Society (OUS) has emerged as the leading national professional body representing urologists in the Sultanate of Oman. Among the individuals who played a defining role in shaping the society and advancing urological practice nationally and internationally is Dr. Mohamed Al-Marhoon, who served as President of OUS from 2018 to 2025.
During his presidency, Dr. Al-Marhoon led a transformative era for the society, establishing OUS as a recognized scientific and educational platform within the region. Under his leadership, the society successfully organized five major international urology conferences (2019–2025), attracting distinguished experts, researchers, and healthcare professionals from around the world. These conferences significantly strengthened Oman's position as a regional hub for academic and professional exchange in urology.
One of Dr. Al-Marhoon's most important achievements was the establishment of the local institutional role of OUS in Oman. He played a pivotal role in advancing postgraduate urology education and professional standards through the development of national training activities, scientific workshops, clinical practice guidelines, and research initiatives. Importantly, he contributed significantly to the establishment and advancement of the Urology Residency Training Program under the Oman Medical Specialty Board (OMSB), helping to shape the future generation of Omani urologists.
